Want to try the app before it touches your live store? Good news: the widget is enabled per theme, so you can set it up and preview it on a copy of your theme without any impact on live customers.
- In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes, find your live theme, and choose Duplicate. This gives you a safe copy to work in.
- On the duplicate theme, click Customize to open the theme editor, then enable the Zipcode Validator app embed (toggle it on and Save). This is the same enable step from the app dashboard — it only affects the theme you’re editing.
- Configure your rules and widget as needed, then use Preview on the duplicate theme to test the validator end-to-end.
- When everything checks out, publish the duplicate theme (or ask us to move the setup to your live theme) to go live.
Why this is safe: enabling the app embed on a non-published theme does not affect your live store — customers only ever see your published theme. This is the exact flow our team uses when we set up on a merchant’s store.
