Why Did an Order Come Through With a Past/Invalid Delivery Date?

Occasionally an order lands with a delivery date that’s already in the past. The usual cause is a stale cart, and the intended behavior is meant to prevent it — here’s what’s going on.

Why it happens: The customer selected a valid date earlier, left without completing the purchase, and finished the order later (an abandoned/stale checkout). The originally-selected date carried over and is now in the past.

How it behaves now: When a customer returns to the cart, an outdated or invalid date is disabled automatically so they’re prompted to pick a new one. As a belt-and-braces step, if a past date ever slips through, the safest move is to confirm the delivery date directly with the customer before fulfilling.

What to do now:

  1. For any affected order, reach out to the customer to reconfirm the intended date.
  2. Keep Delivery Date Required on so new selections are enforced at the cart.

If still stuck: Send the order number and we’ll check whether the date came from an abandoned checkout — reach us at support.
